Mosseri Shares Updates to Instagram Insights
Last week the head of Instagram Adam Mosseri announced new updates to Instagram insights via a reel.
In this video, he explains that until now, you have been able to see how many “Plays” your Reels receive. Now, Instagram will expand this idea to all types of content – photos, carousels, Stories, and Reels.
Users will soon be able to access “Views” across all content types. The network will use the same calculations to display “Followers” and “Non-followers” views by format.
Mosseri notes “Sends, reach, and views are the most important metrics for anybody trying to understand how their content is doing on Instagram.”
That same day, the Instagram Creator’s account posted a carousel reinforcing the same information Mosseri shared, explaining it in more detail.
This post clarifies, “Views will measure the number of times a reel started to play or replay and the number of times a non-reel appeared on a person’s screen.”
Existing metrics such as reach, engagement, interactions, and watch time are still available in Insights, while impressions will no longer be available in Insights but will appear in other tools such as Meta Ads Manager.
Instagram has yet to announce this on its main blog and Business blog. To stay updated with social media and marketing news, follow our weekly newsletter or read our social media news blog.
